The approach to better track patient safety in the outpatient setting

Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CT

More and more procedures are moving to the outpatient setting. And while this brings a plethora of benefits to both patients and healthcare facilities, there's also a key challenge that needs to be addressed: Adverse events and complications are vastly more difficult to track in ambulatory settings.

In this session, quality and patient safety leaders will discuss a comprehensive approach that allows providers and payers to identify and analyze potentially preventable complications in outpatient settings. The approach is also being evaluated as a potential measure in U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospital rankings.

Key learning points:

  • Recognize impact of potential updates to U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings
  • Understand the current challenges and opportunities related to patient safety in outpatient settings
  • Develop a roadmap for identifying and addressing gaps in current outpatient safety practices
