It is estimated that venous thromboembolisms (VTEs) affect as many as 900,000 Americans in the U.S. each year, about 50% of them are healthcare-associated, and as many as 70% of cases are preventable1. In this webinar, Tania Hoyer, BSN, RN, CCRN-CSC, will share evidence and empowerment techniques to prevent VTE including how to enable an effective VTE prevention committee, empower prevention champions, and improve adherence through protocol refinement.

Learning points:
  • Discuss actions necessary to create a best-in-class VTE prevention committee and locate the evidence-based resources to support it
  • Identify techniques to empower all levels of nursing to serve as VTE prevention champions
  • Understand the strategies needed to create an effective VTE prevention protocol
  • Recognize resources to adapt patient and nurse education for a more digital environment
