Resolving RCM challenges amid the rising wave of outpatient surgery volume

Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CT

More and more surgical procedures are moving to ambulatory surgery centers. For 2024, CMS significantly expanded ASC-covered procedures ― including 104 dental procedures, 41 new surgical procedures and 27 new drug and biological HCPCS codes.

While additional surgical procedures on the ASC-eligible list brings opportunities for patients and facilities alike, the expansion also has a notable impact on revenue cycle teams, who must navigate increased volume of procedures, complexity in billing and coding, and payer contract variabilities. In this session, coding and revenue cycle experts will share key tips on how revenue cycle management leaders at ASCs can address these rising challenges.

Learning Points:
  • A review of potential compliance risks and operational complexities that can impact RCM processes due to the expansion of ASC-covered procedures
  • Strategies to address and remediate these compliance and operational challenges
  • Overview of emerging technologies ASCs can leverage to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of their RCM processes
