AMA report — National trends in physician well-being & burnout
A recent AMA survey of nearly 18,000 physicians shows signs of progress related to burnout, job stress and intent to leave — all of which have declined since 2023. However, 43% of physicians still report symptoms of burnout. Rates were highest among mid-career physicians and emergency medicine physicians.
This new whitepaper (informed by the survey) from the AMA offers an assessment of current trends and data-backed guidance for health system leaders. The report outlines effective, organization-level strategies to support physician well-being and sustainability.
