Sharon Howe is responsible for pricing strategy for the commercial Large Group market segments in Oregon and Washington. Prior to joining Providence in the fall of 2013, Sharon served for 16 years as the Director of Underwriting at LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon. Sharon has had more than 35 years of Underwriting experience in the healthcare industry spanning Medical, Dental, Life, Disability and Stop Loss lines of coverage and working in several insurance markets. This experience has developed her unique market awareness and focus. Sharon is a graduate of Portland State University and also attended Oregon State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Business.

Jay Sheehy

Chief Underwriting Officer, Gravie

As chief underwriting officer, Jay is responsible for building out Gravie’s underwriting organization, including overseeing the overall people strategy and development of key tools and policies, as well as supporting other strategic business initiatives. Jay has an extensive background in health benefits, underwriting and product innovation, as well as a proven track record of successful leadership developing high-performance teams and superior business results. Prior to Gravie, Sheehy served as executive adviser to a range of companies focused on healthcare both in the U.S. and globally. He was the chief underwriting officer at Aetna and has also held senior roles at EmblemHealth, AIG and Cigna HealthCare.

At Gradient AI, Jason leverages his actuarial and underwriting experience in various funding types to help ensure appropriate use of the predictive models. Prior to coming to Gradient AI, Jason spent 15 years in health insurance actuarial and underwriting roles. He managed the underwriting department for a regional payer, working closely with several departments including actuarial, accounting, sales, and account management. Jason began his career in small group underwriting and consulting with PEO and association plans while taking actuarial exams. Since that time, Jason has underwritten and consulted on all group sizes and funding types in commercial group insurance, including developing and managing a business intelligence product focused on benchmarking group benefit and claims experience.
