Surprise Billing Legislation – Overview, Response and Future Implications
Debate over Congress' proposals to ban surprise medical bills continues to intensify as physicians, hospitals and insurers war over legislation. As it currently stands, the provision on surprise medical bills would cap out-of-network physician or hospital charges at a rate already negotiated by insurers. Many hospital and specialty physician groups intensely oppose any measure that sets hard limits on their rates or their contract practices, and specialty physician groups are pushing hard for rival legislation pitched by lawmakers in lieu of the committee proposals.
By the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
-
Interpret state and federal legislation around out-of-network balance billing, and the implications it could have on their specialty and business model.
-
Formulate a plan of advocacy with responses to legislation, individually and within their own medical groups, using resources that support them collectively.
-
Determine legalities and limitations around incentives for medical groups who choose to contract with a hospital/health system.
-
Predict future implications around changing legislation.
