The impact of COVID-19 on central line-associated bloodstream infections
Wednesday, June 15th, 2022 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CT
When catheters are placed in a large vein and not put in correctly or kept clean, it can become a way for germs to enter the body and cause serious infections in the blood. These infections are called Central Line-associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs) and are a type of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) patients can get while receiving medical treatment in a healthcare facility.
Working toward the elimination of HAIs is a CDC priority and while CLABSIs overall have declined 14% since 2015, during the Covid-19 Pandemic they increased by 47%. (Source)
Focusing forward, the purpose of this webinar is to have a dialog about methods, processes, and tools hospitals are leveraging to decrease CLABSIs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
